Luxurious Villa

It concerns a luxurious building of the 6th AD century. It includes stunning mosaic floor, which has not yet been cleared as a whole, but also many sculptures in rooms and outdoors.

Like all shows, the structure developed by columns around a courtyard paved with marble slabs, and so far have found fallen seven sections of plain columns logs, three Ionic capitals and seven suffixes with stylized leaves of acanthus.

Also has been found a large number of copper coins, most of which are of Justinian, Thessaloniki Mint, and a short distance from the villa revealed cemetery with tile and stone roof graves and many grave goods: bronze buckles, bracelets, beads, earrings, lamps broken, Sommeliers, amphora and shells.

The excavations are continued by the 7th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities and bring to light bit by bit the episcopal city of Fthiotides Thebes, on the ruins of which Nea Anchialos has been built.
